Flaming June & Anika

Hi sweethearts!

In fashion -as well as in life- I take inspiration from everything and everyone around me.
I am always ready for the next inspiring moment, be it going for walks enjoying the details of beautiful buildings, or crashing into lightpoles because I got so caught up in the detail of someones outfit that I forget to look where I am walking.

Inspiration is such a beautiful thing, it moves freely and makes life so much richer and more fun.
To me inspiration is connected to sensitivity, to really see and be moved, and to then take the moment to the next level by connecting it to something in me and my life.
To really be in a moment is one of the happiest experiences I can have, and because I always try to stay open I get to have a lot of these moments.

I had one of those moments as a young girl, seing Flaming June for the first time.
I was lost in the painting,
the expression of the sleeping girl, the glowing colours, the shape of her thigh, wanting to be her.
Art is one of my greatest inspirations for dressing up.
This is my translation of Flaming June.

The outfit:
Orange dress, H&M (reworked by me)
Scarf & bangles & ring, H&M
Neckless, Noa Noa
Owl earrings, Gina Tricot
Watch, Ice
Leopard booties, Nilson

Tell me, what inspires you?

xxx Anika

Flaming June has always been one of my favorite paintings. I love how it can be so calm, yet so alive (through the color of her clothing) at the same time. Incredibly beautiful.
Loving the outfit, too, by the way!

This color looks amazing on you. Love the sleeves. Anika, I have a question. How difficult do you think it would be to learn Norwegian? I mean, for an American, for example. I know this is not related to your post but I thought you might be able to help. Thanks!

I always love this dress - every time you wear it I think "I need to comment and tell her how awesome she looks in that dress". So, this time, I am commenting!

Also, the scarf is amazing!

Thank you for the very sincere comment! I've been reading your blog for some time. I can't believe I haven't commented :)! I love your rendition of Flaming June. Such beautiful colors! Your hair is amazing. I love soft romantic waves. Unfortunately mine likes to wave in one area and not the other :-p. It is also inspiring that you rework clothing to work for your body. I had gotten a dress form about a year ago in grand hopes that I would be able to design some of my own clothing, but I definitely need a class or two on the basics. :)
