8 questions

Hi Sweethearts!

The beautiful LuAnne of Weeshas World has tagged me with these 8 questions,
the rules are to answer 8 questions and then make up 8 new ones and tag 8 others.

Here are my answers. I will tag 8 bloggeristas at the end of the post.

What would you ask for if a genie granted you 3 wishes?
Oh, to be granted such power and use it well!

I would ask that everyone be given the gift/burden of true empathy with our fellow human beings.
I would ask that there be equality for all the continents and the people that inhabit them.
And, on a very personal level, I would ask for the gift of having children.

What are 3 things you love the most about yourself?
My sensitivity. My generousity. My sense of humour.

Who is your style icon?

J`adore Coco.

Do you have a favourite quote or any words of wisdom to share?
I have shared this one with you before, but it is worth repeating:

When you were a kid, what did you want to become when you grow up?

Me!

Seriously though, I always dreamed of growing up to be a strong and relatively happy woman sharing as much joy and kindness with others as I could. That dream worked out ok. LOL

And, I dreamed of being a soul-singer-sensation. I still dream that dream though! :D

5 years from now, when you look back at this phase in your life, what do you think you’ll say?

Honestly, I think I`ll be proud of my self, for living my life the best way I know how, challenging my self on a daily basis and welcoming new people into my life. I`ll be a successful designer 5 years from now, and will look back at these blogging-days as the phase when I started taking my creative drive seriously.
Also, I`ll think, damn, I looked real good! (I hope! LOL)

What kind of music are you into?
Ah music! I was once asked what I would do if I had to choose between sight or hearing. Impossible choice!I can`t live without music, I am always blasting something really loud, dancing in my living room, typing in the rythm of the music and also laughing out loud from joy hearing amazing rythms.

I love Bhangra! Classical! Soul! Jazz! R`n B! Hip Hop!

What is the most important lesson you have learnt in you life so far?
Probably the greatest lesson I have learned is the power of true love, love for my self, love for others.
The joy that comes from truly embracing others and my self is the greatest rush I know.
So hard to acheive, but so worth fighting for!

If I can throw one more out there it is the importance of living life playfully. Seriously!

Great questions Luanne! <3

Here are my 8:

1 What is your happiest memory?
2 What is your passion?
3 What would you do if you had the guts to?
4 Do you smile at strangers?
5 What pisses you off?
6 What makes you laugh out loud with joy?
7 What is the best choice you have made this far in life?
8 What is the one question you secretly want to be asked?

I hereby tag these lovely ladies, and eagerly await your answers!
<3

Friday Q&A: Mix and mathc

It`s Friday, and time for the Q&A that some of us blogger take part in.

What's your most versatile piece of clothing? How do you wear it?

Well, as you readers of my blog already know, I like to mix and match basically everything
in my wardrobe, both because it`s fun, but also because I actually don`t have that
many clothes.

It is hard to pic my most versatile piece of clothing, but this brown dress (my design)
must be one of them! It`s a good basic staple in my wardrobe, and feels lovely on.

What one piece should every woman own?

A dress that she feels fantastic in!

I have several (I only have dresses come to think of it, and only dresses that I love LOL) but
here are three that I`ve sewed or reworked.

What Summer trends do you love because of their versatility?

One of my fave trends of late, that have carried through summer, is actually the
embellished shoulders.
I love the extra zing they give any outfit, and also, it`s a super easy way to
update clothes. I have added studs to jackets, sewed t-shirts on to dresses and
cut out shoulders from shirts to use on my own designs.

It`s fun, and when I get tired of them I just change them!

What's the most creative combination you've put together from your closet?

Well, this one is definately up there! LOL

If you had the guts you'd what items would you pair and then wear out in public?

I am a certainly a very voulnerable person, but I am also gutsy!
In fashion this means that I`ll basically wear what I want
and find ways of working trendes on my shape/size.

Here`s a coming combo:

Tell me sweet readers, how do you like to mix and match?

Stylish link love

Today I was surprised and happy to find that the sweet Sarah of Bombshell Beauty included me in her Bombshell roundup! Thanks! Be sure to check out her blog :)

Inspired by her, here are some of my link loves this week:

I enjoyed reading the Blogger Q&A that Curves and Chaos did on the sweet Carla. Love it when bloggers feature each other, spreading the bloglove as it were! :)

The lovely Stephanie of le blog de big beauty worked a completely whimsically beautiful black jacket, complete with tulle-roses all over that really got my creative juices flowing...

Allison of Curvy Girl Chic and I have the same dress, but she works it so much better! LOL! Makes me want to give the dress another try. And also get me some killer wegdes ASAP!

Now, there are leggings, and then there are leggings, and LuAnne of Weeshas World has got some leggings that show of them gorgeous gams! If my rokocostyle-legs ever get that lovely I am breaking out the scissors and shredding me some LEGGINGS! LOL. Hang tight though, it might be a while ;D

Last, but definately not least, Jennifer of Jasifers Lions Club nearly set my computer on fire with this tribal look. Fierce, girl! Fierce!

That`s it, I need to chill out after getting all worked up about these stylish bloggers! :D

Peace out!

Friend blogger Q&A: Personal confidence!

Every week the lovely Katy Rose of Modly Chic sends questions that some of us bloggers share our answers too. Want to join in the fun? Check out her blog!

On topic this week is personal confidence:

1 When you wear an outfit that you love, how does that change your mental state?
Oh, it can just brighten my day! I find that I express my self through my clothes a lot, and so what I shclep very much becomes an extension of me.
The dress on the pic above is a good example of a loved oufit
that helps me center my self and feel joyous and sexy :)
This dress from Monsoon was the first printed and colourful dress I dared to
wear, so it also represents another step in my growing acceptance and confidence
of my self as a curvy woman.

2. Do you find that the way you dress can help you feel more confident in certain situations?
I have spent a lot of time earlier in my life feeling like I don`t fit in, and trying to fit in.
I am done with that now. I check with my self every day that I feel good in what I`m wearing, and that confidence in knowing that I am me, dressing my way and loving it is what I bring to every situation. So, the answer to the question is that while an outfit can help me feel confident, it starts from within in every situation for me.
Also, I`m always overdressed, but not feelig silly because of it any more;)

3. Looking back, have you become more confident in rocking your personal style?
Ever since I was a kid I have had a distinct personal style, but my level of confidence certainly has grown a lot. I have mostly worn what I wanted to, but really suffered insecurities about it. This is something I have worked very hard on, and while I still have hang-ups I am much more confident and respectful towards  my self now. I take great pleasure in fashion, and have recenty decided to try to build my own fashion line,
 By Anika.

That is a testiment to all my hard work on my confidence paying off I think. :)

4. How do comments, in person or on your blog, impact your feelings about a look, clothing choice etc?
Comments do impact me, of course, by I do try to stay a little detached from it, in the sense that I love getting feedback and really appreciate feedback from my readers, but I don`t want to depend on comments to feel good.  That being said, it`s always exiting to see if anyone has left comments on my posts, and I feel very happy when they have. My world just doesn`t crash if no one has. So, that`s the best of both words, no?
I`m practising accepting compliments, and not dismissing them like I did growing up, when my self esteem was very low. Now I find that I have days when I feel fab, and suddenly realize that I didn`t get a compliment that day! I love those confident days :)

5. To be more confident, every woman should..

...know and work her shape, whatever her size, and really try to find and highlight the lovely features we all have, both in terms of bodies and personalities. And don`t let anyone tell you you`re not worthy or beautiful, because you are!

Sending you all big love! Anika

Q&A: A tribute to mum!

This week the topic of the Q&A is the stylings of my mum!

Want to join in the Q&As courtesy of Katy of Modly Chic? Come on over!

On to the tribute to my darling mum:

1 Which character trait of your mother's do you hope to emulate?

My mum is an amazing person, with tremendous strength, generousity, sensitivity and grace. She shows me how to take life on and not give up, and I am very grateful for our relationship. If I have to choose just one trait of hers to emulate, it has to be her courage in living life with such humour! She is inspires me with her ability to find the funny in lifes more or less welcome surprises, and is still able and willing to grow as a person. It is such a beautiful and moving thing to get to know my mother again and again as we both change and reach for each other, and embrace each others similarities and differences.
That is simply love.

2 What are your thoughts on your mother's sense of fashion?

My darling mum is seriously fashionable and very creative, I get my love for all things fab and creative from her. My mum is originally an interiour designer, and she has always showcased and allowed for that playful and humouristic approach to fashion and design that I now enjoy and explore in my own life. Growing up I got to wear her designs, and I took -and still take- great pleasure in that. She has always been a great inspiration to me in terms of my personal style, and I waisted no time getting into her closet and make up-box!

My love for shoes started early, here I am rocking mums purple stilettoes at two years old.
Great shoes!

At two years old I had my face on and places to go!

3. When you reach your 70's you want people to look at you and think...

... now there is a woman who seems to have enjoyed her life, and hey - she sure dresses well! But what a deep roaring laughter from such an old woman! (Thanks mum, for my not so feminine giggle! My only consolation is that my sister laughs the same way, and yes, we have been known to stop traffic when we get going! Roaring LOL!) I fully intend to make the most of every part of my life, and collect some hard earned wrinkles on the way!

4. What piece or pieces from your mom's closet would you like to incorporate into your own?

Well let`s just say that the verb should be used in past tense! My mum is a collector unlike anyone I know, she`s always told us to just wait and see, soon enough the trends will have come around again and we`ll be hankering for her old bags, scarves and coats. And, she is right, to my absolute thrill; going down to my mums basement is like stepping in to a permanent flea market with shining gems waiting to be reworked and worn. Growing up I always loved to delve in to her closet as well, and we`ve shared many lovely moments in her bedroom with me trying her stuff on, before resting together in her bed after pulling all her clothes out of her closet. Sweet times.

I have to say though that one of my most treasured possesions that I have received from mum (and there are many, as she is so good at getting me gifts that I just love) is a diamond ring that she had replicated after one of her own that my sis and I have always loved. We both got one, isn`t that sweet?

I wear the string of diamonds with my wedding band and a sweetheart ring from my husbond on top.

Speaking of my mum and jewllery, I simply have to share that she keeps hers in a box for chocolates!
How fab is that!

5. What I like best about my mother is...

.. her smile! It simply melts my heart.

Jeg er så glad i deg mamman min!

xoxo Anika

Friday Q&A: Inspiration

A while back my fellow fashion blogger Katy Rose of ModlyChic invited me to join in her weekly Q&A to fashion bloggers, and I am more than happy to take part! Here are last weeks Q&A on Inspiration:

1. What celebrity (celebrities) do you look to for Fashion inspiration?

I look to celebrities who dress with personality and flair for inspiration, I like the styles of Nicole Richie, Diane Kruger, Gwyneth Paltrow, Zoe Saldana and Sarah Jessica Parker aka Carrie to name a few.

Zoe Zaldana

                                                                        Nicole Richie

2. When it comes to your own personal style what inspires you?

Everything inspires me! Seing people in the streets, a detail of a garment, a photograph, a piece of fabric that I mentally envision as a dress I want to make. Also, interiour design often inspires my style of fashion, and actually my interiour designs and fashion designs reflect each other (even to the point where a cushion cover will become a vest or a purse will double up as a cushion cover haha)

3. How do you hope to inspire your readers with your posts?

By sharing my joy in fashion and my hard earned postive outlook on life I hope to convey to my readers a sense of playfulness, freedom of self expression and selfrespect in how we adress fashion and our selves. Understand your shape and dress it with confidence, if the clothes don`t fit, tailor them to complement you, if you like something, work it your own way regardless of trends, look for the fun and potential in fashion and celebrate who you are!

4. Outside the fashion and beauty realm who inspires you most?

I`m inspired by people who dare to live their lives fully, with intention and vulnerability, who pay it forward and dare to recieve. Everyday heroes like the kids I teach, my husbond, friends and family, and leaders like Martin L. King jr and Nelson Mandela. I`m not impressed by status, it`s who you are as a person that I`m interested in and inspired by.

5. In the realm of Idol... what song(s) inspire you?

A song that really touches me lately is "Connected" by Eric Bibb. The text is so beautiful:
../Got my own roots to water/ Got my own truth to live/ Got my own rivers to cross -in my own time/ Still, I`m connected to you and everyone, and everything/. Now that`s poetry!
