Chez moi

Hi sweethearts!

A while back I was chatting with the fab and sweet Sarah of Return to sender on FB
about a pic showing a bit of our living room, and I said I show her some more :)

So, Sarah, this one is for you,
and for any of you sweet readers who might be interested :)

I can happily report we recently downsized from 33 cushions to a mere 28 LOL!
I`ve sewn most of them my self.

Basically I am as passionate about interiour design as I am about dresses, and you know how I am about dresses! :D

A for Alex and Anika <3

I would love for you all to come over! :)

Posing before the heavens danced

Hello sweethearts!
Let me say that I am thinking of you all! :)

Here`s me posing in the dusk late last night, before the heavens opened up with the most
amazing insane thunder and lightning-storm! A thousand lightning-bolts pr. hour! On top of our heads!
It was bloody brilliant LOL
Alex was sensible, closing windows and turning of gadjets, where as me, I was enthralled with the beautiful lightning and the sounds and the rains absolutely crashing down, screaming with joy and wanting more!!
Jiiiiihaaaaaaaaaa ! Geronimoooooooooooooooooooo!
(you get the pic, not so dignified, def in touch with my playful self LOL)

Lot`s of trees took a hard hitting, but thankfully no one got hurt, so I feel I can show you some beautiful
pics of the heavens dancing below.

First, a quick note about the outfit (if you can see it)

I went for a muted look yesterday (love my basics) and blinged it up big time with a
statement neckless which actually came from the neckline of a dress. I absolutely love
all the studs, but I do realize that it might be a tad much on top of the runaways
(Thelma and Louise, if you catch my drift.. ehem LOL),
but, nevermind that, I`ll bloody well wear it anyways, if I ever get mugged it`ll come in
handy for all sorts of things.
Also, still not really loving my arms, but at least they`re out there.

So, to summarize:
Brown dress, my design
Cut of white blouse, H&M
Statement neckless
Various bangles
Grey sandals that I reworked with fabric at the toes, Zara

Now to last nights show that literally came out of nowhere:

Wanna dance?

Bohemian Citrus

Can you tell my sweet Alex has assumed a surprise-click-approach to taking my pics? LOL :D

Anyways, I got this dress on sale at Noa Noa,
(money saved/barely spent/burning in my pocket, ladies! you follow? LOL),
and really liked the pop of citrus in the print, but I sort of felt that that it was a touch to
cute for me, something about the sleeves and the hemline didn`t quite work for me.
I wanted it flowy....bohemian! :D

So, you know me, it`s not a problem, only a solution I yet haven`t found LOL, so off to work on it I went.

First I added black trimmings (material from a dress) to the sleeves:

Still wasn`t happy though, and I pondered long and hard on what to do with the flippin ruching at the bottom :)
add sequins? to much work, couldn`t be bothered.
Finally, I noticed a pillow in my sofa that I made years ago from a great Masai-scarf (this reworking madness has been going on for a while you see), and ding ding ding!

All though this was a gift from mum, I swallowed hard, sent her a warm thought and started chopping.

For that slightly whimsical effect I added the fringe (that I originally added to the scarf using silver and white sewing thread) to the neckline (I find that fringes caught up in wind is exellent for minimizing my tum tum LOL), and simply changed the bottom of the dress.

Tell me darling readers, should I change the sleeves more, or step away from the vehicle?

I worked the dress with a taupe ring that Alex gave me for our wedding anniversary two years ago,
taupe fringed bag from H&M, earrings from Vera Moda, keychain used as neckless,
bangle, wegdes and understated glasses bought in Croatia.

Blowing you kisses!
I love my readers!!

These arms are made for hugging, and that`s just what they`ll do!

Today I enjoyed another lovely day in sunny and warm Oslo with my sugarpie and lovely friends and my handsome brother :). Gay parade, parklife, endeless coffeshops, shopping, peoplewatching and lots of snuggeling up to my sweetheart, oh happy holiday!

My outfit changed during the day, as I added my new earrings and black sheer top (that I cut to size in the dressing room LOL -ignoring the funny looks from the shopgirl :D) (both Vero Moda),
and my latest scarf (H&M). The rest of the outfit was a white dress that I sewed from two dresses (Vero Moda),bangle (H&M), peacock head dress (Indiska),
taupe studded sandals (DNA)
and studded bag from New York, USA, honey!
(I`ve never been, but my fab sis has! <3)

I have always been very shy about my body, and have spent years working on loving my self, or at least not letting my looks hold me back. I`m still not fully there, all though funnily enough I feel better at nude beaches than in a swimsuit LOL, Rubens in sunset etc, do you get the picture? LOL. Oh dear. Anyways, I am out of my black tents, showing off part of my legs (very risque, I know..), over the whole double-chin thing (chin` chin`! ;D), and even wearing sandals (hooooold the phone!!). I do realize this is all in my head, and that other people probably don`t get shocked be seing me swaying down the streets (that really is the only way to walk with these hips)..but as you probably find your selves, self perception can be a funny thing, even when you are blessed with a husbond and friends and family who are supportive, like I thankfully am.

So, my latest groundbreaking project is this:

I`m working on not covering my arms up like I used to! After some practise I am happy to report that I am getting to a point where I am feeling more comfortable with these chubby and freakled arms of mine.
I don`t have a muscle to save my life, but, and this is where the confidence by choice-approach of mine comes in handy; these loving arms are very good for hugging!  ;D!

So, lots of warm hugs all around for you sweetheart readers of mine that I appreciate so!

xoxo Anika

Feeling happy in peeptoe flats!

Hi gang, today I am feeling happy in my new studded peeptoe flats!

I am working the flats today in my fave selfmade white dress...

... and a black reworked vest with a statement neckless and gold bangle

How `bout them peeptoe flats!
I picked them up at Din Sko today, whizzing into the store, trying them on and getting them within three minutes!
Now that`s shopping with intention :) LOL

Here are the details of the rest of my outfit today:

This black vest that I made yesterday was originally a brown dress that I picked up at H&M in London a couple of years ago, mainly because I loved the top of the dress.
A black dyejob and some chopping later it was re-born as a vest with powersleeves.

Lovely buttons and stitching

Sleeves with attitude!

I sewed this dress with fabric from two dresses from Vero Moda and added a black sash.
Love my curves in it!

I adore the ruffles on the dress

I got this statement neckless in Toronto, Canada last summer. Perfect for making basics zing!

Sending you all happy thoughts!

xoxo Anika

Back to basics

Much as I adore colour, I simply love getting my groove on in basic black and white -all layered and flowy.

Here I am posing at a public restroom (LOL! The things I do in the name of blogging! ..Ok, fine, I may have done it before as well, but now I have the blog to justify it hahahha)

Let`s get to the outfit itself  :)

Todays choice basics are a black dress with embellished shoulders, layered with a cut off white blouse, leopard scarf, studded bolero, some of my fave jewllery, studded boots and fringed bag
- you know.. keeping it simple ;)

On to the basics:

I love this mix of textures, soft meets glitzy and prints.

I found this romantic white blouse at H&M a while back, and simply cut it off and freyed the egdes to make it suit me better.

Flowy details

This frozen clock-neckless is one of my fave pieces. I got it from Day Birger et Mikkelsen in Copenhagen two years ago.

I made this black dress my self, and adorned it with shoulderglitz from a top-come-bolero from H&M. The dress looks scruffy here, but is nice and flowy to wear.

Detail of the studs that I added to this bolero that I made from a jacket from H&M

This fringed black bag has my name on it, and I was one happy customer when I brought it home from Top Shop in Split, Croatia.

Fringy, basically!

Basic bling: creme coloured ring from H&M and black wristwatch from Alessi

Ready for a good time, basically!

xoxo Anika
