My take on sailor chic/ Screw the dont`s of fashion

Hi sweethearts!

<3

I guess this is as close I`ll get to sailor chic this summer LOL

I finally decided I can wear horizontal stripes! :D I felt a bit shy about it before, but, honestly,
there are so many rules about what to wear and not, and I am so tired of all the dont`s (for plus size women).

I break the rules all the time I`m sure, I wear all kinds of crazy patterns, I wear darker tops and lighter bottoms, I wear sequins to work, and now I also wear horizontal stripes LOL

I say screw the dont`s, I`d much rather subsribe to all the do`s!

Do know your shape, and do wear a good bra.

Do have fun with fashion!
Do embrace your self, regardless!
Do break all those silly rules if you want to!
Do make sure to not take crap from anyone!

A-freakin-HOI!!!!!!!!!

<3

The outfit:
Stripey bolero, Cubus (almost untouched by me I swear, I only removed the golden buttons on it LOL)
Brown dress, my design (with stains from the pizza I enjoyed today ;D)
Neckless, Accessorize
Bag, Zara
Earrings, Vero Moda
Ring and scarf, H&M
Bangle, one of mums that she got in Paris when we lived there 30 years ago)
Sandals, DNA

Tell me, what are your thoughts on the do`s and dont`s of fashion?

Could you share with us your thoughts on fashion vs fatshion?

For me , Fashion is universal, any article of clothing, or style put out there can be reworked into my style and to fit me. I know that I am considered to be plus size but to tell you the truth I've never shopped in a plus size store. The only " plus size" stuff I have in my closet are from faith 21. Being bigger does not stop me from walking into my favorite store and trying on what they have. You can always make it work.

What is your philosophy with regard to fashion?
Fashion for me is what designers put out . There are always new styles put out there. But what matters is how you incorporate those styles into your wardrobe. Every season when new fashion is developed, you see all the new things designers come up with. For me fashion will always be copied. So it doesn't matter if you bight the designer channel or miu miu because in a couple months, some one else will make a cheaper version of it. It's all about your personal style and how you make it work.

I would love for you to share three of your fave looks.

See the pics.

How does blogging impact your life?

I just started blogging, and so far it's been great. I've met some people and the response I've gotten has been great. Hopefully I could expand and keep putting stuff out there that people enjoy.

Do you have a message for all the fashionloving ladies out there, whatever their size?

One message I have is that you can wear anything you'll like to. I know some people will say oh that won't look good on me but you can if you style it to your body !

Links à la Mode: The IFB Weekly roundup 7/29

Looking back, moving forward?

Edited by: Florrie Clarke of Intrinsically Florrie.

This week’s links bound across time as we go from the first incarnations of the handbag, to both the glamour and reality of the mid-20th Century and the modern phenomenon of online shopping. And when, in all this, will women be happy with their bodies? Debenhams may now be using unretouched images alongside the photoshopped, but the Daily Mail and the UK’s new equalities minister have decreed a new, and for a lot of us unattainable, body shape for us to aim for.

Could you share with us your thoughts on fashion vs fatshion?

Well for me it's all about fashion. There is no difference between both. I don't like creating another difference between other women and me. We are already fat, so why do we want to create fashion for fat? Aren't we all struggling to just be as stylish as other ladies? So this is why I am just fashionable and that's all.

What is your philosophy with regard to fashion?

I never take a look at the size on the tag. If I like something, I try it on, if it fits: great! If it doesn't well, it will never have the honnor to be worn by me. I like getting dressed everyday and choosing my clothes to work on the streets like on a runway but it doesn't lead my life. It's just a game. Fashion is a game where everyone can win with good accessories and not even wonderful clothes.

I would love for you to share three of your fave looks.

- my Wax skirt and bow shirt. This outfit is my favourite so far. A skirt from Africa with this european shirt. I like to mix my different cultures. I think I am blessed to have so many differences so that I can play with.

- this maxidress from JensFashionPlus is so cute and I like the whole look with the denim jacket. It turns a casual outfit to a dressy one. I wear maxidresses in summer or winter! That's best clothes ever!

- I love this Old Navy pocket dress. I really like it but what I love above all is this belt I had for 3£ on Dorothy Perkins. This is why I like internet! I can buy so many things for nothing just from my couch.

How does blogging impact your life?

Good question. I started blogging 3 years ago on a community platform. I just wanted the girls to see the clothes I got for very cheap in stores. Then I noticed that they were really honest and gave advice about what I was showing. So I decided to feature my outfits and as I put on and loose lot of weight, I have tried to embracing my curves. Thanks to blogging, I trie to feel good in my body.

I think blogging has really helped me about choosing the right clothes for my shape and also helped me being more confident.

Your clothes define you. So be yourself. Be true.

Taupe ruffles in the rain

Hello sweethearts!

It`s raining in Oslo again, and I actually find it beautiful, if not the perfect weather for summer.

I sewed /reworked this dress this morning before leaving the house (a common sight at my house LOL)

I originally made the white dress from two dresses, I figure that if something that I love doesn`t fit that is just a challenge, not a reason to leave the store feeling humiliated and sad. Those days are over!

The dress before..

.. and (for) now.

The outfit:

Dress, my design (made with top and part of a scarf both from H&M)
Bag, Zara
Bangle and hairband, H&M
Earrings, Accessorize
Neckless, FreeQuent
Sandals and ring bought in Croatia
Umbrella, a gift from mum

Sending you all lots of love my darling readers!

Could you share with us your thoughts on fashion vs fatshion?

I think the concept is the same. It's all about girls who love fashion and want to share their outfits, tips,... with others. I read as much fashion as fatshion blogs. Both worlds, so to speak, are inspiring, and if you know where to shop you can easily recreate straight fashion looks too.

What is your philosophy with regard to fashion?
Fashion is fun. It shouldn’t be taken too seriously but as a way to express yourself.

I would love for you to share three of your fave looks.

Pic 1: This is my favourite look for the Summer. A maxi dress with a couple of nice accessories. I think they are very feminine and you can easily wear them up or down. This one is from Yours Clothing.

Pic 2: This is probably my favourite dress from Monsoon (and yes I have two of them!). I absolutely love the loud print against the black tights. Don't be afraid to wear floral patterns, girls!

Pic 3:  Finally this a more simple look but I think everyone should own a nice black skirt. I have paired with one with a tie dye top and a lace blazer from Evans. I admit that I've been a little obsessed with lace this year, and I have bought a few pieces from tops to dresses.

How does blogging impact your life?

My shopping budget has increased! lol No, seriously blogging doesn't have that much of an impact on my life. The best part is meeting interesting new people who I hope I'll meet in real life too, one day. I see my blog as a hobby, and I think that's the perfect way to keep enjoying writing.

Forget about the rules, be yourself and dare to try new things!

Could you share with us your thoughts on fashion vs fatshion?

Fashion and fatshion are essentially the same thing to me. However, I will acknowledge that us fatshionista's have to work 50 billion times harder to find decent and individual items compared to normal fashionistas. That makes us a bit extra special I think!

What is your philosophy with regard to fashion?

Fashion should be enjoyed. Enjoyed by the person wearing it and the people around them. I have a very serious job where I deal with a lot of emotional issues all day. I find wearing bright colors and fun items cheers both me and my clients up. It's win/win!

I would love for you to share three of your fave looks.

My most favorite look is the Blair Waldorf look from Gossip Girl. I went through a stage where I never left the house without a headband. I have calmed down that restriction slightly now, but I still get a buzz when I realise I am wearing what Blair would wear. I nearly fainted with excitement the other day when a male friend admitted to watching Gossip Girl and saying that Blair had on MY jacket. Another of my favorite looks is anything involving colored tights and knee high boots. They are my current must have items for winter down here. I went to Prague for Christmas and was so impressed with how the Europeans dealt with the cold weather through their fashion and I noticed many of them wearing the boots and tights. I also love anything formal. If I can wear a big princess ball gown or a cocktail dress I will. Any excuse to dress up and I am there. It's a dangerous and expensive habit.

How does blogging impact your life?

I'm only a relatively new blogger, but I already find myself thinking things like "Oooh this photo will be good for the blog" or "This outfit will go great on the blog." I think it is a fairly addictive beast. I do have one issue in that in the small town I live in (only about 2000 people) I don't want them knowing about my blog due to my work. I'm wondering how long I will be able to keep it a secret there.

Don't worry, be happy!
Enjoy, be confident and love what you are wearing!
